Developing strength in parent partnership.
Here at Gawthorpe Community Academy, we believe that parents and staff working together in partnership is essential to a child’s individual needs being fully met. These are some of the ways in which we work with parents and carers:
Here at Gawthorpe Community Academy, we operate an open door poilcy. Besides parent evenings, if you have any worries or concerns, please do come and see us because we can help and we are always pleased to see you.
Our Learning Mentor Miss Croisdale is available during the day. Please contact her via her mobile 07789286870. All other enquiries to be emailed to our email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each class has a ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting at the beginning of each academic year to outline:
INSPIRE events are held in every year group at Gawthorpe Community Academy. Parents are invited into school to share learning experiences with their children. Examples of these events are DT inspire mornings and grandparents day, These have proved to be a huge success with staff, children and parents thoroughly enjoying them.
Due to the pandemic we have been unable to hold inspire events this academic year. We look forward to inviting parents and carer back into school. The event dates for 2021-2022 will be sent out to parents during the autumn term.
Every academic year, we hold core subject workshops for parents/carers to attend. These have been vital for presenting information about ‘how to help your child at home’. The feedback we have received has been very positive and we will continue to run these in the next academic year. If you require information about the teaching of English or Mathematics in the meantime, please feel free to contact the school office on 01924 679680 or subject coordinators and we will work together to support you helping your child at home.
Friday mornings are very special at Gawthorpe Community Academy, we hold an achievement assembly to recognise all the children’s hard work throughout the week. We welcome all parents, carers and family members to the assemblies.
Every Friday morning, a coffee morning is held. We invite all parents, carers and family members to attend. This is an excellent way to share your thoughts and feedback with us. Our learning mentor attend these sessions, it’s a great opportunity to ask for advice or just have a chat after our special achievement assemblies.
Parent information meetings are held in the autumn and spring term at Gawthorpe Community Academy. Teachers send out individual child’s school reports in the summer term. Parent meetings are a great opportunity for class teachers to share information about how your child is progressing at school. It is vital that all parents/carers attend these meetings, in order to understand how to best support your child at home.
If you have any ideas or suggestions about other ways in which we can work together, please feel free to share them with us.
Thank you to all our parents, carers and families for all your ongoing support!
Should you wish to find out any further information about our academy or curriculum, please speak to your child’s class teacher, who will be happy to discuss this with you.
